Bear Hollow Dinner Theatre is located on US 41, half way between Monteagle and Tracy City. It is easy to get to just off Interstate 24 at exit 134.
Many have asked how the name "Bear Hollow" came to be. Jim Masiella bought the property in 2000 intending to build a resort for Monteagle.
The piece of property is located next door to Cumberland State Park which comprises 16,000 acres of various park enviroments for those who enjoy the great outdoors. One day a black bear was spotted roaming the parcel Jim had bought, hence the name " Bear Hollow " came to mind.
The Dinner Theatre came about from Jim's contacts in Nashville where he had a recording studio. Mixing music and restaurant developed into Bear Hollow Dinner Theatre.
The facilities are unique in that coupled with the theatre building are seven themed shops. In addition there are fourteen cottages of one or two bedroom that may be rented for one night, one week or one month. (Based on availability}
The audience is treated with a full dinner before the show with a choice of menue. The show offers a closeness to the actors that is not present in many other stage theaters. It is a wonderful experience for actors and audience alike.
All total, Bear Hollow Dinner Theatre is an evening to enjoy.
Driving Directions
I-24 to exit 134. Turn right off exit. Go about 1.5 miles and turn left on US Highway 41 South (in front of High Point Restaurant). Go about 2.7 miles. Bear Hollow is on your left after the South Cumberland Visitors Information Center.
